The Boys in the Band

The Boys in the Band is a seminal piece of gay theatre. Written by Mart Crowley, it premiered off Broadway in 1969 and was subsequently adapted as a film starring its original stage cast.
In 2016, Ian played the role of Michael in an acclaimed revival which opened at the Park Theatre before embarking on a UK tour. The production transferred to the West End in 2017, and Ian was nominated as Best Actor in a Play at that year's Whatsonstage Awards.
A little bit of history was created as he and his husband, Mark Gatiss, became the first same-sex married couple to appear together in a West End production.
